Cyberbullying

Cyberbullying is when a person uses electronic communication to bully a person. Usually this tends to happen on Social medias, for instance the big one now a days like Facebook. The person that is bullying usually sends threating or intimidating messages to the other person. I read the article, "Girl’s Suicide Points to Rise in Apps Used by Cyberbullies". Throughout the article it talks about how a young seventh grade girl from Miami committed suicide due to cyberbullying. It all had started when she dated a boy and from there on 15 middle schooled boys would send her messages through an app called "KIK" telling to kills herself and what so not. This clearly is a heads up to parents to pay more attention to their kids since now a days young kids are on the internet at a young age and  most don't know what they might be doing and the consequences from it.

AI & Robotics

In my opinion I believe that robots can do some, but not entirely all the stuff us humans can do. I mean it'll be amazing and kind of weird to me if robots were to do exactly every single little thing that humans do. It's like robots would take over humans and of course over the world because basically technology has taken over our lives since we tend to use it every single day, for example our phones. To the question of who is likely to make more errors, if humans or robots I think that both evenly would make errors. I read the article about "Should we put robots on trial". It states how there are many robot-like machines in present day that any serious problem can be traced to human and it can be either because the machine was used incorrect or it was used to do harm intentionally. And this basically answers the question of whose fault was it. I believe they would automatically blame us humans first and then inspect the robot to see what was the problem after all.

Legal & Ethical Issues

The article, "Open source textbook program expanding in coming months" explains how schools are trying to keep updated with the technology and education. They were deciding on pursuing open source text books instead of the old traditional textbooks. Now a days I feel that students don't really like reading books in their hands and enjoy being more in the internet reading online. I believe that later on eventually textbooks wont exist and everything will be required to do online. I think that this open source textbook idea will be great for students to be more engaged in doing homework. They just seem to keep on coming up with brilliant ideas for students to get interested in school while it being fun.

Security and Privacy

The article I read was, Target works on security-heavy credit cards, after breach. This article talked about how the Target company was hacked and those customers who had shopped from November 27 and December 15 2013 were most likely to be affected. I personally had shopped during these days at Target and my bank company Chase had sent me a new card just in case if I had been robbed. According to the reading Target said that were speeding up the high security of their credit cards. So they're coming up with some credit cards that come embedded with a tiny microprocessor chip. They say that by having these new credit cards it will make it harder for cyber criminals to access someone's data. For example even when I'm buying stuff online I don't feel really safe about giving out my card information, but I still do. And as of today nothing bad has happened with my bank account. I believe that credit cards will continue to advance like technology keeps advancing throughout the years.

World Wide Web

The World Wide Web will keep on moving upward like it has in the previous years. I think the internet we have in our cellphones will become much more faster and they'll probably come up with a 5G in the near future.

According to Microsoft CEO to Focus on Mobile, Cloud Technology, they say that they are trying to focus on the mobile cloud technology. They have came up with a formula, but not the entire formula itself. They only have the latter half formula as of right now. Microsoft and CEO want  rivals such as Amazon, Apple etc. Companies will always look out for rivals so that they can be better than the rest.

Networks and Communication

Asynchronous and synchronous can be used in a good way and a bad way to communicate. The pros of this method for communication is that you can keep in touch with friends 24/7 while texting. Through email you can keep in touch with professors or other important people and lastly through Skype you can keep in touch with family members or friends that are in another country or state. For example, my family and I Skype at least every month with our family in Mexico. The cons of these methods to communicate is that people need to understand and myself too that you can't be texting while crossing major intersections because of the fact that they're bad drivers on the road that don't pay attention either because they might be texting too and that can cause accidents. According to the article, "Study: Texting while walking affects your balance" they say that when people are on they're phones they get so into what they're doing on their phones that they stop thinking about what going on around them. There was a case in Pennsylvania where a lady fell in a fountain because of being on her phone.

Intro: by Milton Junes

Hello everyone,
My name is Milton Junes and I am currently a freshman at Northeastern Illinois university. Some hobbies I enjoy the most are; listen to music, hangout with my friends and of course be on social medias.

How do you feel a course can effectively integrate blogs, Twitter, and/or other Web 2.0 technologies?

- I feel that a course can effectively integrate blogs, twitter, and/or other Web 2.0 technologies by making the class much more interesting and by communicating easier with the professor or students in the class, like it says in the article "60 Ways To Use Twitter In The Classroom By Category". It says how a professor at NIU lets their students know about last minute class cancelations. I feel that students present day check their social medias more than they should  be checking their emails on a usual base. I personally own a twitter and I check it everyday to keep up on what my friends tweet and I enjoy it a lot. So in my opinion I think it'll be great for courses to integrate blogs, twitter etc. since there's so much you can do on there. You can literally have classroom discussions outside of school!
